Literal translation

The house without daughters (which does not receive any dowry) is a really poor one. In some societies, girl children are a source of wealth

Literal translation

The house of a cripple is not boarded up (like that of a dead person)

Literal translation

In your neighbour's house no dainties are set aside for you.

Stay in your own home as only your wife will take proper care of you

Literal translation

It is the size of the grain bin that is important not the size of the house.
